Family Lawyer
Main Street Law LLP, a thriving and dynamic firm with offices in Edmonton, Spruce Grove and Drayton Valley, is looking for a family law lawyer with 3-10 years of experience to join our team.
We seek a lawyer who strongly desires to practice Family Law to join our fantastic team. We foster a very supportive environment, so we are looking to hire someone with a positive attitude and great interpersonal skills.
Skills and Qualifications
• A desire and aptitude to practice Family Law;
• An ability or interest to expand in the future to Collaborative Family Law;
• Member of the Law Society of Alberta in good standing;
• A very strong work ethic and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
• Possess excellent advocacy, conflict resolution, negotiation, and communication skills;
• Is self-motivated with the ability to work independently, balanced with a value for working collaboratively with other lawyers;
• Possess effective client and practice management skills; and
• Proficiency with technology is a definite asset.
Pay is commensurate with experience.
The position is available immediately, but we are flexible on the start date. We have offices and opportunities available in Spruce Grove, West Edmonton, and Drayton Valley.

Litigation Legal Assistant
About the Position:
We have an opening in our Spruce Grove office for a strong Litigation Legal Assistant. You are a person who is self-motivated, detailed oriented, and a good communicator. As this is a multi-faceted and hands on position, you are able to assess client needs and co-ordinate appropriate solutions. You are professional in all dealings with clients, staff, and the public, both in person and by phone and email.
As the ideal candidate you will possess at least 3 years of Legal Assistant experience in litigation and will be proficient in the following:
- Solid understanding of court rules and court filing processes
- Preparation of legal documents
- Document filings and registrations
- Maintaining a diary system for limitation dates
- Drafting and/or proofreading of various correspondence
- Maintaining an efficient file management and bring forward system
- Maintaining calendars, email management and generally managing lawyers’ practice
- Client correspondence, booking appointments, and client interaction
- Working collaboratively with administrative staff
- Following firm policies and procedures
- Serve as a Commissioner for Oaths
Along with your superior interpersonal skills, you will join us with highly developed organizational and time management skills. You are driven to continually improve upon the client experience and are enthusiastic and positive about learning new ways to better the business.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or certificate in an accredited legal assistant or paralegal program and/or successful career history in the role of a legal assistant
- Strong computer skills including exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated client-focused service
- Demonstrated proficiency in civil litigation / personal injury work / family law
- Demonstrated success working as a member of a team
