Crystal entered law school with the intention of practicing family law and tailored her studies accordingly. She completed all available family law courses, including Advanced Family Law and Family Law Practice Issues, as well as complementary courses in Negotiation Techniques and Mediation Advocacy.
Throughout law school, Crystal volunteered with Student Legal Services’ Civil and Family Law Project, where she gained practical experience assisting clients with family law matters, including applications relating to parenting, child support, parenting time, and contact. Her dedication to the program led to her becoming a Day Leader with Student Legal Services, providing her with courtroom experience early on. During this time, Crystal managed her own family law files under the supervision of a practicing family lawyer, appearing in docket court in the Alberta Court of Justice, and conducted her first hearing.
Crystal understands that the breakdown of a relationship can be a difficult and uncertain time for clients and their families. She takes the time to understand each client’s unique circumstances, concerns, and goals in order to work toward a resolution that meets their needs.
Crystal believes that, where possible, negotiated resolutions can provide clients with a more practical, cost-effective, and certain outcome. She works with her clients to explore opportunities for settlement while ensuring their interests are protected. When a negotiated resolution is not possible, Crystal is prepared to strongly advocate for her clients through litigation. Crystal was called to the Law Society of Alberta as a practicing lawyer in 2025.
