Micia has been a member of the Law Society of Alberta since 1997. She was the Chair of the Family Section of the Canadian Bar Association for several years. She is an active member of the Collaborative Divorce Alberta Association.
Micia has been involved over the years in various family stakeholder committees, which have included Justices from the Court of King’s Bench and the Court of Justice. She has been legal counsel on several important reported decisions on Family Law issues out of the Courts during her career.
In her spare time, Micia enjoys playing bridge, golfing, country dancing, and learning how to speak Spanish.
Micia has been practicing primarily in Family Law since 1997. From her extensive experience, Micia understands the challenges that her clients face going through a marriage/relationship breakdown. Trying to pick up the pieces afterwards, and working on creating a “new normal” is one of the most stressful experiences an individual can have.
Micia believes in a practical, collaborative approach to resolving difficult issues facing families going through separation, in order to minimize stress, cost, and uncertainty. Micia’s work is focused on finding creative solutions that will allow both sides to reach an agreement, particularly when there are children involved, without needing to go to court, to create the best “new normal” possible for each client.
After 20 years of private practice in Spruce Grove, Micia joined Legal Aid Alberta, where she led a team of Family Lawyers. She is pleased to return to private practice at Main Street Law LLP with a greater depth of knowledge and experience to better serve her clients.
